How It Works

FAQ's Regarding Quickstickz

Lighting

QuickStickz uses infrared tracking to determine the position of the stickhandling ball. Because natural sunlight has a large amount of infrared rays, it interferes with the QuickStickz camera’s ability to see the ball.

Ideally, QuickStickz will be played in an environment with no direct sunlight coming in – if there are windows in the room where QuickStickz will be played, the curtains should be drawn. Artificial lighting should not cause any problems.

Playing Surface

QuickStickz can be played on any flat surface – carpet, wood flooring, and concrete are all fine. Some users have incorporated synthetic stickhandling mats into their practice routine. The only important consideration would be the amount of natural light that reflects off of the floor – and that is normally a factor only when paired with open windows.

Camera Placement

The camera should be around 29”-35” off of the ground – roughly the height of a desk or kitchen table.

Can QuickStickz be connected to a TV?

Some of the newer flatscreen TV models provide inputs similar to what you would use for your computer monitor. If you can hook your computer up to your TV, then you’ll be able to play QuickStickz on your TV.

How do I access the stickhandling drills?

The QuickStickz drills are designed to run from a web browser like Internet Explorer or Firefox. The games make use of Adobe’s Shockwave Player; it will be installed on your computer as part of the QuickStickz installation process.
